You can go down to Lowe’s or Home Depot and have them cut some 2×4′s to what ever length you want them for pretty cheap. That’s what we used for slats on my son’s antique bed (who knows what people used to use back in the ’20′s). We also put a “stabilizer” piece of wood in the center on the floor- a t-shape where the “T” touches the slats under the bed.

Oh no about the slats! CRAP! We should have asked, dang it.

The slats on our bed look really easy peasy to make, I can take a picture of them when I get home and e-mail it to you.
