I should have been packing and cleaning my house all day but at the last minute I decided to join my aunt and niece on a trip to Red Butte Gardens. They have a lovely Children’s Garden. We had a nice picnic and the kids splashed around in the fountain and got covered in red sand from the sand box. (red? come on!) I wish I had brought my camera because Isaac had a red mustache that would have been fun to show off.
So… my dear bloggy friends. I’m taking a vacation. We’ve been looking forward to this trip for a long time. My little sis in law is getting married so we are headed back to VA/MD for the wedding. (Yes, I have finished her slide show and if I do say so myself it’s pretty stink’n good.) After the festivities everyone (but the honeymooners) is going the Outer Banks, North Carolina to stay at the beach for a whole week. It’s going to be lovely. I’m planning on doing nothing but booggy boarding, stuffing my face with southern bbq, and soaking up a lot of sun! (with spf of course) (that is if Isaac will let me) Woo hoo!
I’m terrified to find out how Isaac is going to act on the plane. Have I mentioned that he’s an animal!! He’s at that age where he has his own mind and you can’t really communicate with him. He is entertained by nothing; no movies, games, or toys will hold his attention. Nothing works. Well, I guess he likes buttons that makes noise (which isn’t always appropriate for church or airplanes) and things he’s not suppose to touch (pianos at church, large machinery, electronics.) A really good treat will hold him in his seat for a while (until he throws it on the floor.)
So I’m totally dreading the flight. I’m wondering if there are any over the counter drugs that will knock him out for 6 hours. Just kidding!! I’m not going to drug him… I swear the family next to us on our Christmas flight used something because their kids slept the WHOLE TIME!! Arggg…
So I’ve got a lot of packing and cleaning to do and so far I’ve only done a few loads of laundry. I better get to it. In a couple weeks I’ll let you all know how everything went.
“See ya later, crocodile!” (Emma always gets confused with what animal to say.)

Have tons of fun!!!!! We’re going to Disneyland in July and I am also dreading the flight….They need to invent family-only flights and have movies and games and treats and ice cream and balloons, oh, and a playground. All on the plane. Let’s get on that.
So jealous! Get nice and tan for me, I’ll enjoy it by proxy.
xx
i’m flying to my mom’s with my two girls – ALONE – on friday and i’m stressing like hell. i wish you luck and a great trip!
We tried dramamine once in a fit of desperaion. I had checked with my doc and she said it would not hurt a thing as long as it was the proper dosage. You should know how it affects your kiddos though beforehand! It backfired and we had extra agitated children on a very long car trip…and mean too.
Have a great trip and don’t sweat the plane ride, just keep reminding yourself they are strangers you will never see again.
LOVE the Outer Banks, we’ve been going to Hatteras Island for about 10 years now.
Can’t wait, my next trip is in August
one word…BENADRYL…:)
just for the flight of course…..I am not trying to start a controversy
Have fun!! You’ll be in my neck of the woods (we live in Fredericksburg, VA.) Be SAFE.
