A magor case of boredom

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh… Can you hear me screaming!!!

I’m sooo bored. I can’t think of anything fun to do today (with the kids).

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Someone save me….

I’m going to crumble into my couch and blend in with all the rest of the cracker crumbs left there.

Hmmm… what’s on HGTV today?

Sticks and stones and falls.

Hello world. Here I am… it is Monday again. I spent a great deal of computer time last week working on my first challenge for the Stand up and Scrap contest. I’d love to post it here and show you all but the contest in anonymous. I’ll do it after the contest is over. If you want to you can check out the gallery here. Maybe you’ll be able to pick mine out. The challenge was all about dreaming big.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has a genius, magic and power to it.” -Goethe

If you could have one dream come true what would it be?

So, we had another major accident that involved the emergency room. Emma fell off our swing set last night and landed on her arm just right to break the bones in her arm. Yup, both of them, the ulna and the radius. They are compound fractures so she’ll have her cast for 4 weeks. It’s pretty much a bummer. She cried most the night and woke up every 45 min. I feel so bad for her. I’m not to upset about it though because I think kids are pretty resilient when if comes of stuff like this. I had a few broken bones in my day. She felt well enough in the morning that she wanted to go to preschool and show off her cast for show and tell. She’ll be getting the hard cast on Friday. Hopefully she can get a pink or purple one.

Right after she fell off the swing and I was holding her, she said that she wanted to go lay in her bed and that I should call all her friends over so that they could come see her. “What?” I thought “You’re in pain and all you want is to have your friends come wish you well.” My little miss Social Light.

One thing that did concern me though was when she came home from the Dr’s last night she said “Everyone is going to laugh at me.” Why is she so worried what people think at such a young age? I’ve made an effort to not make comments about what people will think if she wears something funny or mismatched. “Whatever you want, girl.” But somehow, society still seems to rub away that innocence. She seems to take peoples opinions to heart. Perhaps it’s just the way her special little self is. Hummm… I think when she’s older we will have to be really conscious of this subject.

Pink Heaven!

If any of you have girlie girls, you will know how much they obsess about pinks and purples. Everything must be pink and purple. Juice, treats, balloons, shirts, shoes, whatever.

Well, when we moved in to our new house Emma wanted her room to be pink and purple. Well… me…. I’m not so much of a girlie girl so I decided to paint only half of her room pink, the other half being green with a cream stripe to separate the two halves. She was dismally disappointed the room was not all pink. So when we purchased a big girl bed for her I decided that I would cave in and do a mostly pink quilt for her.

With my mothers help we hit every fabric store is the SL valley (because the quilt had to be homemade, don’t cha know). After so many stores, I was quite frustrated that I could not find the nice soft pink that I wanted- a bit girlie but modern enough for my liking. I purchased a bunch of fabric and took it home only to have major buyers regret. It wasn’t quite right. We continued the fabric search in hopes that we could find something to mix it up a little bit.

By the time we found all the fabric that we needed I was so molded that I wasn’t sure what to do with it all. I handed the project over to my angel mother and she so willingly took it and put it together perfectly.

So here is the finished project. We are quite proud of ourselves because we (mostly my mom) came up with the flower appliqués and the shams. It’s pretty cute but it is super Pink!! Way more pinky than I had hoped but Emma does love it. We have called it the Pink Heaven Quilt.

ps… I know… the green on the wall looks grey… arggg…. I’ll have to paint that again… Later, way later.

Updates and me

Okay Okay, you convinced me…  I guess I’ll keep this blog alive. I do like it (sometimes)… when I have something nifty to say… but man, ya know, life just isn’t always exciting. I think we are all ready for fall to come along. I enjoy the cooler weather and I look forward to pulling out my trusty hoodie and jeans (although I hesitate putting up my flip flops).

Life is plunking along as usual. I thought that some of you may be curious about a few things. So here is the update…

Isaac’s mysterious wounds have healed.  Seriously, they were so strange. His toe still looks pretty nasty because his toe nail seems to want to fall off but otherwise; things are clearing up. We have a cardiologist appointment schedualed for Oct but most likely his heart murmur is fine and normal. It’s just weird that no one noticed it before- Heart murmurs just don’t come and go.

We have finally upgraded our car situation!!! We are no longer a one car family. A week ago we purchased a used Honda Pilot. We are supper excited and we love it. We want to just drive around town in it because it is just sooo comfortable. We feel like we got a pretty good deal on it and it should last longer then I’ll probably want it too.

My playroom window is still not finished.

Emma loves preschool even though she had an accident today. It was kinda my fault because I forgot to ask her if she’d gone this morning. Oops. I hope the kids don’t tease her for it. (do preschooler tease?)

Jer is changing jobs- AGAIN! This is becoming a habit of his. He’s always looking for good opportunities. I guess it’s a good thing but it seems scary for me. I guess as a wife, we just like stability. We’ll just have to wait and see how things turn out. He’ll have a little bit more a commute but oh well. We’ve been pretty spoiled with him being so close to home.

Anyhoo, that’s my boring update. I’ve been downloading fun digital goodies all afternoon. Woo hoo.

Stand up and Scrap

I’ve decided to challenge myself. I’m going to do the Stand up and Scrap contest hosted by Little Dreamer Designs and The Sweet Shoppe.

I was super excited to use their mega kit collaborated by tons of major designers. Here is my first LO.

Live or die?

Where has my blogging mojo gone… Hello, where are you? Yea, I can’t find it. I’ve been debating all day whether I should post a vote…

Let the blog die or fight to keep it alive.

Yea, I don’t know. I might have a few interesting things to write but life has taken a really boring turn for now. I’m such an average person. Nothing to say or show for -that is any different from anyone else.

I’ve felt average my whole life. When I ran track I could never run faster then anyone. When I did spring board diving in high school I could never win any diving meets. I can’t do any really fancy scrapbooking. I don’t read any interesting books that allow for any interesting conversations. I don’t stand out in a crowd. I’m not especially funny. My kids don’t do anything super crazy. I can’t seem to get any better at rock climbing. And now I can’t seem to blog about anything that anyone would want to read about it.

Don’t worry, I’m not asking for your sympathies. I do like my self and am confident in who I am… I just don’t feel like blogging about my very average life right now.

Arggg….

As if you’d actually tell me “Yes, manda, you are boring! I vote Let ‘er die!

Preschool, freedom and a strange disease.

Well, life has been so interesting lately…

I sent Em off today for her first day of preschool. She was so excited and ended up loving it.

I feel elated that I have 2 1/2 whole hours to run errands or whatever with only one child. I felt free! It made a huge difference in what I was able to get done this morning. I think I’m really going to like this preschool thing. Weird. I don’t think that I should be this happy to send my kid off to school. Shouldn’t I want to keep her home and safe as long as possible? Well, I don’t. Fun, fun, fun… for the both of us. Hummm… do the rest of you love it when your kids go off to school?

So Isaac… umm.. more trouble with him… although I’m not sure what it is.

I took him to the Dr yesterday for these strange sores on his toe and finger. I know these pictures aren’t that great because my camera just isn’t that great. First I just noticed these scabs on his toe. I thought they were just from him scrapping his toes on the ground or something. Then they got really infected so we were paying more attention to them. Then I notice the same sort of sore on his finger. Weird. We couldn’t think of what they were and couldn’t find anything online that match them. (It is not hand foot mouth disease, we already thought of that one.) They reminded me of a worm hole left behind on an apple. We’ve thought of spider bites, virus, parasites, worms, maybe even a puncture wound of some sort but the weirdest part is that it is the same thing on his finger and toe. Why would a spider bite him in 3 places and a week apart?

Well, turned out that the doctor didn’t have a good guess either. She noticed he had a heart murmur so the only thing she could think of was cardiomyopathy which is super rare but it’s basically a heart infections that sends out little bits of the infection and make makes sores elsewhere in the body. Isaac doesn’t have a fever or any irritability so it doesn’t seem to match either.

I took Isaac this morning to get blood tests and his white blood cells didn’t indicate a major infections so I guess it’s not that. Hummm… Anyone seen anything like this??

I’m at a loss. I guess I need to take him to a cardiologist to check his heart out and make sure this murmur isn’t anything more serious and also go to a dermatologist to look at these sores, see if he knows anything. sigh…

My mommy alert isn’t really on. It’s just kinda weird. Besides that I feel oddly free. Maybe it’s the cooler weather. It has finally cooled off around these parts. Woooh.

A chat with Ashley…

Ashley: hi
you there???
how was your weekend

me: ummm… exhausting
Isaac is slowly killing me
we went camping in the tetons

Ashley: why?

me: he nuts
I can’t control him

Ashley: how so

me: he just wants to experience everything…

go to the other campers site
touch the fire pit
jump in the lake off the bridge
fall
fall and fall

Ashley: oh you mean he is a boy! good times!

me: ya!!!

Ashley: makes you want to get pregnant right away again, huh?

me: I love the boy, really, but he needs a cage
umm no

Ashley: jake just needs angels flying contantly by him to catch him

me: ya. I think Isaac has used his nine lives already

Ashley: have you had to do the hymleck?
i did on jake once

me: I’ve done emma twice and isaac only once

Ashley: what are you up to today

me: nothing. we went to car max during jer’s lunch

Ashley: any luck?

me: we’re debating between the durango or an explorer

Ashley: no minivan

me: I’ve decided that there is no perfect car
jer wants 4 wheel
barely big enough

Ashley: just get a station wagon with the wood panneling

Ashley: i don’t know about a dvd player but probably and eight track

me: why don’t they make those anymore.
