Preschool, freedom and a strange disease.

Well, life has been so interesting lately…

I sent Em off today for her first day of preschool. She was so excited and ended up loving it.

I feel elated that I have 2 1/2 whole hours to run errands or whatever with only one child. I felt free! It made a huge difference in what I was able to get done this morning. I think I’m really going to like this preschool thing. Weird. I don’t think that I should be this happy to send my kid off to school. Shouldn’t I want to keep her home and safe as long as possible? Well, I don’t. Fun, fun, fun… for the both of us. Hummm… do the rest of you love it when your kids go off to school?

So Isaac… umm.. more trouble with him… although I’m not sure what it is.

I took him to the Dr yesterday for these strange sores on his toe and finger. I know these pictures aren’t that great because my camera just isn’t that great. First I just noticed these scabs on his toe. I thought they were just from him scrapping his toes on the ground or something. Then they got really infected so we were paying more attention to them. Then I notice the same sort of sore on his finger. Weird. We couldn’t think of what they were and couldn’t find anything online that match them. (It is not hand foot mouth disease, we already thought of that one.) They reminded me of a worm hole left behind on an apple. We’ve thought of spider bites, virus, parasites, worms, maybe even a puncture wound of some sort but the weirdest part is that it is the same thing on his finger and toe. Why would a spider bite him in 3 places and a week apart?

Well, turned out that the doctor didn’t have a good guess either. She noticed he had a heart murmur so the only thing she could think of was cardiomyopathy which is super rare but it’s basically a heart infections that sends out little bits of the infection and make makes sores elsewhere in the body. Isaac doesn’t have a fever or any irritability so it doesn’t seem to match either.

I took Isaac this morning to get blood tests and his white blood cells didn’t indicate a major infections so I guess it’s not that. Hummm… Anyone seen anything like this??

I’m at a loss. I guess I need to take him to a cardiologist to check his heart out and make sure this murmur isn’t anything more serious and also go to a dermatologist to look at these sores, see if he knows anything. sigh…

My mommy alert isn’t really on. It’s just kinda weird. Besides that I feel oddly free. Maybe it’s the cooler weather. It has finally cooled off around these parts. Woooh.

omygosh, that niece of mine. What a little feminine darling. I cannot BELIEVE I didn’t get to (try and) hug her this last weekend. Boo hoo.

Call me about Isaac… that toe looks terrible.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease? Common in toddlers and babies who put everything in their mouth, including their hands. My little girl had it on her hands and feet, but never in her mouth… and there weren’t that many sores.

Has he been playing on a wooden swingset? Sometimes kids get bunches of little splinters that get surrounded by pus as they work their way out. If that isn’t it, time for a new Doc that will help figure out the mystery!

I guess you know if that red goes beyond perimeter, it is big-time serious!!
