Pink Heaven!

If any of you have girlie girls, you will know how much they obsess about pinks and purples. Everything must be pink and purple. Juice, treats, balloons, shirts, shoes, whatever.

Well, when we moved in to our new house Emma wanted her room to be pink and purple. Well… me…. I’m not so much of a girlie girl so I decided to paint only half of her room pink, the other half being green with a cream stripe to separate the two halves. She was dismally disappointed the room was not all pink. So when we purchased a big girl bed for her I decided that I would cave in and do a mostly pink quilt for her.

With my mothers help we hit every fabric store is the SL valley (because the quilt had to be homemade, don’t cha know). After so many stores, I was quite frustrated that I could not find the nice soft pink that I wanted- a bit girlie but modern enough for my liking. I purchased a bunch of fabric and took it home only to have major buyers regret. It wasn’t quite right. We continued the fabric search in hopes that we could find something to mix it up a little bit.

By the time we found all the fabric that we needed I was so molded that I wasn’t sure what to do with it all. I handed the project over to my angel mother and she so willingly took it and put it together perfectly.

So here is the finished project. We are quite proud of ourselves because we (mostly my mom) came up with the flower appliqués and the shams. It’s pretty cute but it is super Pink!! Way more pinky than I had hoped but Emma does love it. We have called it the Pink Heaven Quilt.

ps… I know… the green on the wall looks grey… arggg…. I’ll have to paint that again… Later, way later.

Oh. My. Gosh. LOVE IT. Does your mom hire out?!?!? :) I am looking for a bedspread for Annie (her big girl bed gets here next week) and that is beautiful. I have negative 50 sewing skills. Your mama is one talented lady, she did a wonderful job. Hooray for Emma!

Wow! What a beautiful quilt (and room). My daughter would love that room. I think I’d steal the quilt for myself, though!

And did you ever notice that the “girlie-girl” gene skips a generation? As a child, my mom loved pink and playing with dolls. I hated that stuff (tomboy all the way), but my daughter is totally into pink and princesses and playing with dolls. Hmmm….

That wall doesn’t just look gray, it IS gray. You are in gray denial, woman.

But, it is cute, and I don’t think it needs repainting.

The quilt turned out ADORABLE. I’m glad it arrived safe and sound and on time! Woo! (For the confused, our mom brought it up to Idaho when she babysat for us and we had a lady I know machine quilt it).

Sooo cute! I haven’t ever been way into pink either, but after having 3 boys, I think that if my little girl does ever come, I may even get pink carpet. (Kidding, of course!!!) Your mom did an awesome job!!

It has actually been proven that little girls are drawn to pink, even without outside influences (i.e., friends, older cousins, etc). I have given in to the love, and well as the fact that Bella wears a dress everyday. Oh well. Love the quilt. It’s so nice to be crafty so you actually get what you want. Since I am not so crafty I have to settle.

  6. INCREDIBLE!!! The room looks like it has just come fresh out of a magazine, and the bedding is amazing. Your mom has an incredible gift! You couldn’t have found anything that beautiful in the finest quilt store in America.

That quilt is soo cute! What a lot of work. She did a great job and you picked out good fabric! She should make and sell stuff like that. You should post some pictures of your car. How many does it seat? Can you tell I’m in the market? haha
