Merry Christmas

Yawnn!!

Wow, is it really all over?? I spent the morning trying to help my house a little bit. It think a tornado blew through here. Yikes.

I know I have a lot to catch up on. I just put a few photos on flickr. I’m only going to put a couple on this post so if you’re curious- click on over and take a looksie.

Christmas was pretty successful. We went to one of my Grandparents for Christmas Eve and the other Grandparent for a Christmas dinner. I think Jer has been throughly Grandparentfied but it was nice. It’s the same Christmas schedule I’ve had since a child. It’s a tradition.

This is Isaac’s drill. He loved anything he got that had buttons or made a noise. The remote control car was also a hit. Emma loved her princesses and digital camera. Kids are so easy to please. Jer wants to return the coat I bought him but oh well, he can just get what he wants. I was given some new bindings for my 10 year old piece of junk snow board. Woo hoo. They are so nice and are going to help out a lot with the ride. I wanted a new snowboard but I’ll just have to wait until we can afford it.

We were lucky because Jer got an extra day off work for Christmas so we begged and pleaded my momma to babysit while we hit the slopes. We went yesterday, and yes, I’m sore. Gosh, I’m getting old. We were so excited to hit the slopes with all the fresh powder UT has been getting lately. It was pretty cold but we had such nice rides cruising long together. I wish I had some awesome pictures of us rail sliding or getting big air but hey, I’m getting to old for that. I didn’t even want to take my hands out of my gloves to take  pictures. We did love weaving in and out of the trees though.

Last night Emma begged me to cut her hair. She wanted it short so bad. Actually she has been asking me for a while.

I thought, “I guess I can just trim it up. It probably needs it.” So up stairs we went to chop, chop. At first, I took a wack off of it just to get it to the length that I thought would be good.

Emma all of the sudden started bawling. Waaaaa! “I’m ugly! Everyone is going to think that I’m ugly.”

“Sorry girl, too late”

A half hour later I had done the best I could with such a wiggly, sad girl. It was shorter that I had planned it to be and it was all choppy and crooked. Oh, well. She all of the sudden was so happy with it. I think it was what she wanted but was just so shocked with how much I had taken off.

This morning she woke up wondering if her preschool teacher would recognize her. I noticed how crooked it was in the back and knew I had to go get it fixed. This is the finished result. She had told the hair lady that she wanted to look like me so she put some moose in it and diffused it even though Em’s hair is a straight as a wet noodle.

I’ve been really sick of the computer lately. All those Christmas cards must have worm me out. So in my leisure time I’ve been reading Pride and Prejudice. I am in love with the movies so I thought I’d read it. It’s been so fun. I’ve been able to get to know the characters so much better and also what really happened. Ahhh… I can hardly stand it. I have to find out if Lizzy and Mr. Darcy really get together in the end. Ahhh.. excuse me while I curly up in front of the fire. ha ha.

What I’ve been up to

Hello world! I’ve taken a little break from the blogging world. I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit. The longer I stay away the easier it is to think “Gosh, I just don’t have time to blog today.”

But alas, I figure it’s about time to catch up. So, how are you? What have you been up to my dear blogging world? Christmas preparation I would guess… Ya, me too. I’m not the kind of person to that has sooo much to do or buy or prepare for. But things have come up…

For instance…

I’ve been helping a few friends and family with their Christmas photo cards. It’s been kind of fun and given me practice with my photoshop skills. I’ve discovered that peoples styles and preferences are so difference. Something that I thought looked nice turned out to not be the favorite of my “customers” or visa versa, something they liked I didn’t. Oh well, I spent way to much time editing these photo cards but what the hey!! I’m a push over (Nothing new, I already knew that.)

I’m just about done with the Christmas shopping. I just have a few last things to put together. The kids were easy. Jer and I just went to Target one date night and piled all the toys on my list in the cart… Actually I kept piling and Jer kept putting things back but we finally found a happy medium.

This past week I (or I should say Emma) had 3 birthday parties to attend (one party was twins.) That doesn’t include my Grandfather’s 80th birthday celebration nor the work Christmas party Jer and I attended or… Jer’s extended family Christmas party. Gosh, you’d think I was all partied out. All of these birthday parties were little boys turning 3 or 4. Come on people!! what was going on in March of 2003 and 2004!! Oh yea, we have another little friend, yes a boy, having a party at Chuckie tomorrow. That’s a grand total of 5 little boy birthday presents that we had to purchase in this wonderful month of December.

Jer and I went to the climbing gym the other night and they had a slide show going on about these secluded people in Siberia that have developed their own style of climbing. It was nuts actually, and we met the Americans that went over there to climb.

They’ve made this you tube about the experience. It’s pretty cool.

Small miracle on our street

Gosh, any one been wondering where I’ve been?? Probably not… well besides it being Dec and perhaps the craziest time of my life ever… my hard drive crashed!!! Yea, what a pain… back up your photos, people!!!

It’s not a matter of IF it happens to you, it’s WHEN.

I owe it all to my busy little man, Isaac. He knocked over my tower. I wasn’t there, Jer just told me about it. When it fell over it made some crazy noise like this… grchchchcsssss grhchhhh click click click. After that the hard drive would never boot up. I had my super dooper brother come over and try to rescue me. No go. He confirmed the crash.

I started looking into some recovery services and which hard drive we wanted to purchase to replace the broken one. I was in the middle of a Christmas card for my sis in law so I would go over to a friends house to use her computer/photoshop. (Luckily all my scrap stuff was save on my external hard drive.)

We bought a new hard drive and between me and jer (neither of us are very handy with anything– let alone a computer) we tried to install it. Needless to say, we hit a few road bumps. We didn’t have a windows XP cd because it had just come on our computer. It took us a day or two to track one down.

We were finally on the road to repair when Jer was on the phone with my bro (I think I’ve called him everyday for a week, poor guy…) getting some instructions. I guess my bro suggested something about trying another recovery something or other with the old hard drive. Jer plugged it back in and whaa laaa… it worked!!! Crazy. hummm… we hurried and backed up all of our data we wanted to save in case the miracle didn’t last very long.

So far so good… Thank you, thank you. I know it may seem like a little thing, but man!, sometimes you just need a little break every now and then. Ahhh…
