Yesterday we had a crazy, adventure day.
I decided to head down to Provo to see my sister’s new place. She’s renting this fun old house just south of campus. Made me kind of miss the old days of college.
As sister like to do, we hit the mall and found some good shopping… some cute knee length shorts for the summer. Once the kids had had enough and were filling the mall hallways with screams of terror for fear of going in another store, we decided to meet up with Jer for lunch. Since we were all down in Provo we came up with this crazy idea to go climbing in Rock Canyon after work. This meant I had to find something to do between 3 and 5. I dropped little sis off at work and headed to a park to let the kids run around.
In an effort to keep Isaac on the playground I was fooling around on the jungle gym entertaining him. I grabbed some side bars, put my foot on the platform and popped up to a standing position with all the power in my legs and arms.
CRACK!
I somehow forgot that the monkey bars were directly above my head. The world went dark, my eyes when cross eyed and I felt like a cartoon character that just had a gigantic bolder fall on their wee little head. My headed stopped ringing and started pounding and then I finally realized what happened. They sky didn’t fall down on me, I was just an idiot.
I didn’t play much for the rest of the afternoon. I could hardly think straight as I felt the 3 goose eggs on my head slowly swelling larger. I had no where to go and children to watch. A nice young mother tried to make small chat with me but I’m sure she thought I was the grouch of the west because of the sour expression I had on my face. I couldn’t keep my hand off of my forehead, feeling the goose egg get larger and larger. I don’t think she notice because my new hot bangs hid the hideous swelling.
When I was sure I didn’t have a concussion, and thought I had enough sense in me to gather up the kids into the car, I went to McD’s for large caffeinated drink for medicinal purposes.
I felt a tinsy bit better and headed up to the canyon to meet the other family members that were crazy enough to go climbing with children in tow. When my little sis saw me, she scrunched up her eye brows, brushed my bangs aside and said “what happened?” so maybe the lady at the park just wasn’t brave enough to say “what the heck is going on with your forehead?”
We had a rock’n time at the canyon. The kids were decent enough. The biggest pain was that it was pretty crowded and we had to fight for our own piece of rock. My bro came for a bit but I didn’t manage to have enough coherent thoughts about me to snag a picture of him. This one is my sis smoke’n it on a 10a. Woo hoo!
So I’m bushed today. We had left the house around 10 am and didn’t get home until 10 pm. Needless to say we haven’t done much today.

Ohhh, Amanda. I KNOW you are the only mama I know that would keep her rock climbing plans after nearly killing yourself. You’re the WOMAN!!!! Such the adventurer that I would never in a million years keep up with.
