Heaven on Earth… well for me.

I hope you all had a lovely Memorial Day Weekend. I’m trying my best to recuperate today from the weekends activities.

On Saturday we decided to take on the 20% chance of rain weather report. We didn’t have much else to do so despite not having anyone to go with, we headed down south to one of my very favorite places in the world!

Maple Canyon!

It is a God-made climbing gym. The rock is amazing. The canyon must be an ancient river bed because there are thousands of cobblestones that are cemented in some sort of sedimentary rock. The result is hundreds of challenging sport routes. Ahh, just thinking about it makes me happy. Not only is it cool rock climbing but the canyon is a green- luscious haven with campgrounds, little streams and fun hikes.

We did get rained on but luckily there are huge roofs to hang out under and have a picnic. Jer and I did manage to get a few climbs in so we considered it a successful trip. The kids had fun just playing on the rocks and rolling in the dirt. Isaac has a new obsession with sticks and that wasn’t so much fun for Emma, if you know what I mean…

We went on a hike and found these terraces of rocks that had a little of stream running off of them.  Emma said that we found a “waterfall” that was “this big” as she held out her hands. It most likely wont be there later on in the year when the rain stops. Emma called it “Pretty Land” and ya know, it really was.

Gosh, I can’t figure out why anyone wouldn’t want to come with us. We just loved it! Even though the kids were fussy at times and the rain kept coming and going we had a great time. I’m looking forward to more trips to Maple Canyon this summer. Woo Hoo.
