I kinda feel like I owe you guys a post…
First I want to say thank you for all the wonderful comments I’ve received from my depressing last post. I certainly have been having a bit of a struggle this past week and so I appreciate all the support.
Thank you, thank you.
I hardly want to talk about Leah’s strike because it’s still pretty upsetting to me so I’m just going to say I’ve given it my darnedest best. I’ve done all I can do with Leah and her lame-o strike. I declared a 3 day war. I did everything I possible could and it just wasn’t happening. I was a wreck. Leah was mad as heck at me; not to mention hungry and sleeping poorly. Neither of us have been fairing very well. But I had to try it. I had to. I had to know that I did everything I could.
So… after a ton of prayers, I gave up. It’s over.
Boo Hoo.
I’m still planning on pumping as long as I can because
A) she loves my milk via bottle and
B) it’s free and
C) it’s healthy and she wont drink formula anyway.
So on with life. Ahhhh. I will leave you with a very short little clip of Leah crawling… It’s something to cheer me up.

What a sweetie! More hugs for you! I can relate. No one can prepare you for how crazy it can get. I can’t tell you how many bottles, nipples, brands, temperatures, positions, pumps, whatevers it took trying to find somewhere where my daughter was fed and we were both relatively happy. But it happened! Leah is so lucky to have a mom that cares as much as you!!!

What a great solution to pump and give her a bottle. You can still give her “snuggle time” with you as the opportunity presents itself. Loved the clip of Leah crawling.

So, so, so sorry! I am just catching up on your blog and am feeling so sad for all that you have been going through. I can relate in a sort of way, and it is completely heartbreaking. You are an amazing mother for trying as long and as hard as you did. We totally need a long catch-up. I will call you soon. Love you!

Although we don’t know each other, I wanted to leave you some encouragement, too. I can tell from your posts what a dedicated and devoted mother you are, and it sounds like you’ve done everything you can to handle this challenge in the best way. My first child refused to nurse from the very beginning, so I exclusively pumped for five and a half months. It wasn’t fun by any means, but I knew I was giving her the best nutrition I could and making the situation work for us. And please, whatever you do, don’t allow anyone to make you feel guilty! I had many people tell me that I just didn’t try hard enough to get her to nurse, but they didn’t go through my experience. Only you know what is best for you and your child. Keep praying and asking for strength!

Leah is so lucky to have you for a mama. Even though I know you are mourning the loss of your breastfeeding relationship, it sounds like the two of you were having a really rough time and now you can both move on and put this all behind you. Don’t let yourself feel guilty, especially since she will continue to thrive on your pumped milk!

She is SO cute, Amanda! I’ve been gone for a week, but have been thinking about you guys. I think you gave it all your best efforts, but in the end what baby wants is usually what baby gets. Great job for continuing to pump. That gets rough. Yes, these babies are stinkers…cute ones.

That girl is cute, cute, cute. I just want to pick that girl up and give her some serious squeezes. Those cheeks are adorable.
