There is such thing as heaven on earth. Perhaps you can find it at a variety of places but one place for sure is at Lake Mead, Nevada at the end of September. Once it starts to cool off up North, you can head South and enjoy Summer for one last time. We went on a little road trip to meet up with some good friends at the lake. The weather was absolutely perfect and the 5 hour drive one way totally worth it!
{Carrie, please do not get mad}
Not only did Jeremy and I have a blast but my cute kiddos did too. Emma and Isaac were able to try out water skiing. So fun! (Sorry for the crappy photos) This nifty Platform Ski Trainer was perfect for them. It’s so easy and gave them the confidence to try more. Isaac in particular was a natural. The minute he got up, he was shifting his weight to move back and forth and he kept begging for more.
When we weren’t riding around on the boat we were hanging out at the beach and playing in the water. This muddy spot was off to the side of us. It may look gross but the kids had such a blast playing in it. Besides all ya have to do is hop in the lake and the slime is all gone.
We had a scary moment when we were sitting under the shade tent enjoying our lunch when Isaac, who was out swimming in the lake hollered at us, “Leah is drowning!” We all looked up but couldn’t see her anywhere. I yelled “run” to Jeremy to get him to react because we were all kind of frozen, not knowing what to do or where to go. He tossed Sam into my arms and he and 5 other adults hoofed it over to the other side of boat where she was. They pulled her out and after some coughing and crying she was totally fine. I had taken her to the bathroom a few minutes before and had forgotten to put her life jacket back on and she had forgotten she wasn’t wearing it.
Phew! That was a close one. Because Isaac was out in the lake, he was the only who could see her on that side of the boat. I’m so grateful that Isaac was in the right spot at the right moment. Someone was looking out for us. We made sure to say a little prayer of thanks afterwards.
The best moment for me was when I got to wake-board back to the marina at the end of the day. The sun was slowly dropping on the horizon turning everything around me a soft pink, there wasn’t another soul on on the lake, and the water was slick as glass. I felt like I was flying across the water. I wake boarded until I couldn’t hold on any longer.
Ahh! It was PERFECT, I tell you!

Good thing for that awesome picture of mudmonster Emma – I can’t stay mad at you with that kind of a gem to look at. And scary story about Leah – that makes my heart pound just thinking about it. Sounds like Issac was hero of the trip – what a good big brother! Glad you had fun….but I know what would’ve made your trip even better
